We all want it!

Moving forward, I believe, is a desire that’s common to us all.  It’s also a desire that sometimes is illusive.  That’s why I named this blog Moving Forward.  Together, let’s do just that as we explore everyday life and how to make it as wonderfully fulfilling as God has planned for you.

I’ll never forget when my friend and I were on a sightseeing trip in Washington, D.C.  We happened upon a street musician who was playing "Amazing Grace."

His eyes were closed as though the rich, fluid sounds flowing from his saxophone were coming from a place deep inside himself.

If it hadn't been for the open saxophone case that was holding his donation's cup, there was an almost angelic quality to the scene that was drawing a small crowd.

But then suddenly the music stopped. "Get out of my face," along with profanities came spewing out of that same musician.

The object of his wrath was a dirty, wobbling, drunken man who held his beverage in a brown, tightly twisted bag while they pushed and shoved each other.

The whole scene now had a perplexing, unnerving feel to it. It had changed so quickly.

And life can change quickly.  And that makes an easy excuse to get sidetracked by something you thought was going to be good and turned out differently.

Getting diverted and discouraged only takes you backwards.  I’m sure you, like me, have had those times.  But what counts is that we keep going forward.

Since life is lived in the everyday moments, Moving Forward can be about whatever happens to be our challenge or joy at that moment.   I like that.  Big or small.  Common or extraordinary.

It’s my prayer that, in this blog, you’ll find a place that offers the inspiration and the courage to move forward with your life and dreams.  I hope you’ll share your thoughts, and we can encourage one another to reach for that dream that maybe you’ve never told anyone.

When the music changes, it’s time for a new dance.  When the music stops, you still have choices.  You can hum, whistle, or sing.  If there’s music in your life, it’s your choice.  And that’s how you move forward.

Stop by here as often as you like.  We’re Moving Forward!
